Residents of ONE CLUB don’t need to look far for fitness inspiration.

1) An Outdoor Walk

The paved paths at ONE CLUB offer an excellent option for an early morning walk with your pooch or a post-work pound the pavement session.

2) A Water Workout

Achy joints holding you back? It’s hard to find an excuse when you are a resident of ONE CLUB. The pool is a great place to start aquacizing! No, it’s not synchronized swimming without the judging or possible gold medal. Aquacize is a fun and refreshing way to exercise. It promotes muscle and joint strength and flexibility along with improving cardiovascular endurance.

3) Biggest Loser: Local Edition

Want to join a program that has helped Alabamians lose over a million pounds since its inception? Scale Back Alabama, a free statewide weight-loss program, touts the importance of an active lifestyle. It is a fun and competitive way to get healthy either on your own or in a group. Drop pounds for the chance to win cash!

4) Make a Marathon Your #fitnessgoals

Residents of ONE CLUB and vacationers looking to incorporate fitness into their travels in the New Year should consider Run the Beach – Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission half-marathon series designed to encourage travel outside of summer. The 2018 three-race series includes the Big Beach Half-Marathon Jan. 28, Sea Turtle Half-Marathon Feb. 17 and Kaiser Realty by Wyndham Vacation Rentals Coastal Half-Marathon Nov. 24. “Travelers crave experiences and are increasingly incorporating fitness into their vacations,” said Beth Gendler, vice president of the Sports Commission. “Run the Beach participants are encouraged to play on and off the beach to discover all coastal Alabama has to offer.” Along with a great workout, participants will receive a medal, race shirt and enjoy a post-race party with free beer and food with live music. Participants in the Big Beach Marathon and Half Marathon should expect a flat and fast Boston Qualifier course. Set your sights on the finish line but don’t ignore the fantastic scenery of Gulf State Park and the Gulf of Mexico. The race starts and finishes at The Hangout, the hub of entertainment in Gulf Shores. “You can escape the bitter cold of winter up north and enjoy a beautiful course while having a great time,” said Mike Clark, Race Director. “Running a half or full marathon is always a challenge, but no hills make this a good way to start the year by running! Runners love the course through Gulf State Park. It is beautiful, flat and fast! Also, the celebration afterward with a band, craft beer and great food are pretty darn fun!”
